Programming 893MAX to Garage Door Opener
The 893MAX works with all LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Craftsman openers manufactured after 2011 with yellow, red, or purple LEARN buttons.
Step 1: Locate LEARN Button

Step 2: Activate LEARN Mode
- Press and release the LEARN button on the opener
- The indicator LED next to the LEARN button will glow steady (usually 30 seconds)
- You have 30 seconds to complete the next step
Step 3: Program the Remote
- Within 30 seconds, press and hold the desired button on the 893MAX remote
- Hold the button until the opener lights flash or click twice (about 2-3 seconds)
- Release the button
- The opener light will flash to confirm programming
Step 4: Test the Remote
- Wait 10 seconds for the opener to exit programming mode
- Press the programmed button
- The door should activate
- If not, repeat from Step 2
Common Issues and Fixes
- Remote doesn’t work at all: Battery not installed, LEARN not pressed, or wrong opener generation
- Door opens partway: Re-program with longer button press
- LED flashes but door doesn’t move: Opener is in lockout mode (wait 30 sec, retry)
- Range reduced: Replace CR2032 battery, check antenna on opener
