Why RF Mando Aftermarket Remotes Are Not Clones
A common misconception in the replacement remote market is that aftermarket units are simple clones. RF Mando takes a different approach: complete in-house redesign. This 2026 guide explains our proprietary engineering approach.
1. In-House PCBA Redesign
RF Mando does not copy circuit board layouts from original products. Each compatible replacement uses:
- RF Mando-designed PCB schematic
- RF Mando-selected component library (chips, capacitors, oscillators)
- RF Mando-developed firmware for rolling code sequences
- RF Mando-defined stack-up and routing
This means no intellectual property infringement and full control over quality.
2. Proprietary Housing Molds
RF Mando owns all injection molds for its remote housings. The exterior design may share visual cues with the original product for compatibility perception, but the tool paths and tooling are independently developed. Molds are stored at our Xiamen facility.
3. In-House Engineering Team
RF Mando has a 15-person R&D team covering:
- RF circuit design (4 engineers)
- Embedded firmware (3 engineers)
- Mechanical design (3 engineers)
- Industrial design (2 engineers)
- Quality and testing (3 engineers)
This team develops new products from concept to mass production.
4. 15-Day Prototyping
From approved specification to engineering samples: 15 days. This includes PCB fabrication, firmware porting, mechanical sample production, and full functional testing.
5. Compliance and Certification
All RF Mando products carry proper certification. Our aftermarket units are labeled “Compatible with” or “Replacement for” the original brand, never claiming OEM status. CE-RED, FCC Part 15, RCM, and RoHS compliance are standard across the lineup.

6. Anti-Infringement Statement
