The Problem With One-SKU Orders
A locksmith restock is never one reference. It is a spread of shell references for the vehicle families in the area, a few blanks, and a duplicator if one has failed. Ordering each reference separately means multiple invoices, multiple shipments, and multiple freight charges for parts that together weigh less than a cubic metre.
| Requirement | What to ask for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| MOQ basis | Per SKU | Lets you spread 100 pieces across eight references |
| Packing list | Broken out by SKU and quantity | Your team puts the right parts on the right shelf |
| Inner carton labels | Reference on the outside | Avoids unpacking the whole carton to find one reference |
| Short-ship handling | Confirmed per reference pre-production | Easier to chase than a single-SKU short ship |
What to Ask For Before Ordering
- A carton-level packing list broken out by SKU, not just a total count. Without it your receiving team opens every box to find what they need.
- References clearly labelled on the outside of each inner carton, because a mixed carton with no outer labels is a mixed carton your staff will unpack entirely.
- Confirmation that MOQ applies per SKU rather than per order, so you can spread a 100-piece minimum across eight references instead of committing 800 pieces of one.
- Quantity confirmation per reference before production, because a short-shipped reference in a mixed carton is harder to chase than in a single-SKU order.
Why This Decides the Supplier
Almost any supplier can fill a single-SKU order. Far fewer will produce a clean mixed carton with a usable packing list, because it requires a different packing process and a different level of order discipline. For a locksmith running on bench depth, that discipline is the product.
We supply housings, key fob shells and blanks only. We do not supply transponder chips or immobiliser programming devices, and we do not provide immobiliser key coding services. Those categories are regulated differently in each market and responsibility for lawful use in your jurisdiction rests with the buyer.
