Decoding the Designation
XT2 is the two-channel 868MHz handset used on FAAC gate and barrier operator control boxes. The trailing letters matter: SLH and LR are not decorative — they identify the radio family and the coding scheme the receiver expects. A 868MHz handset that transmits the right carrier but the wrong coding family will not pair, and from the installer's side it looks identical to a defective product.
So the buying question is not "is it 868MHz" but "which 868MHz coding family does the control box in my market expect".

The Five Checks Before You Commit to a Batch
- Coding family matches the installed control box. Ask your customer or installer for the control box model, not just the handset model. This is the single most common mismatch.
- Channel count matches the operator. Two-channel for a single gate, four-channel where a second gate or a barrier shares the panel.
- Rolling code vs fixed code. If the incumbent handset was self-learning rolling code, a fixed-code replacement will work once but will not roll. Never substitute across that boundary.
- Mechanical fit in the housing. A 1mm difference in button travel is fine in the hand and wrong in the wall-mount cradle.
- IP rating for the install position. Exterior gate posts need a weather-rated housing; interior panels do not.
The Pitfall Worth Naming: Same Model, Different Market
The version of a given handset model shipped into one European market is not always identical to the version in another. Coding tables and legal band allocations differ by country, and a dealer who stocks one SKU for "the whole of Europe" will eventually ship a part that does not pair. We recommend stocking by market, not by model name.
