Eaton DILM Paralleling and Star-Point Bridges Guide
Paralleling and star-point bridges are used in 3-phase motor control circuits to create reversing contactor configurations and star-delta starters. RF Manda supplies bridges compatible with Eaton Moeller DILM series.
Bridge Types Overview
Four main bridge types serve different functions:
- P1 – Paralleling bridge (reversing contactor upper)
- XP1 – Extended paralleling bridge
- S1 – Star-point bridge (star-delta starter)
- XS1 – Extended star-point bridge
P1 and XP1: Reversing Contactor Bridges
Used in reversing contactor assemblies (forward/reverse motor control):
- P1: Standard paralleling bridge for typical reversing assemblies
- XP1: Extended version for larger contactor combinations
- Both connect the line side of forward and reverse contactors
Typical applications:
- Conveyor direction control
- Hoist and crane forward/reverse
- Reversible pumps
S1 and XS1: Star-Delta Starter Bridges
Used in star-delta (wye-delta) motor starters for reduced-voltage starting:
- S1: Standard star-point bridge
- XS1: Extended version for larger contactor combinations
- Both create the star connection point during starting

- Large motor starting (reduced inrush current)
- Centrifugal pump starters
- Compressor starters

Selection by Contactor Frame Size
Match the bridge to the DILM contactor size:
- DILM7-DILM17: Small bridges (P1/S1)
- DILM25-DILM65: Medium bridges
- DILM80-DILM170: Large bridges (XP1/XS1)
Installation
Bridges typically install between two contactors and are secured with the main power terminals. No special tools required.
