What an Auxiliary Contact Block Actually Does
An auxiliary contact block does not switch the load. It mirrors the contactor’s state as a low-current signal so a control circuit, a relay or a PLC input can see what the main contacts are doing. That distinction is the whole reason aux blocks are ordered separately: they are sensing hardware, not power hardware.
For a distributor, this creates a reliable ordering pattern, because the aux block count on a panel usually exceeds the contactor count.

1NO / 1NC / 2NO: What Each Gives the Control Circuit
| Configuration | What it gives | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 1NO | Signals that the contactor has energised | PLC input, status lamp, run feedback |
| 1NC | Signals that the contactor has dropped out | Stop feedback, interlock chain |
| 1NO + 1NC | Both states from one block | The common general-purpose configuration |
| Mirror NC | Mechanically linked; will not close if main contacts are welded | Required for safety circuits and diagnostics |
Mirror Contacts and Why Safety Circuits Ask for Them
A mirror contact is a normally-closed auxiliary contact that is mechanically linked to the main power contacts. It will not close unless the main contacts are open — which means a control circuit can positively verify that a contactor has actually dropped out, rather than inferring it from a coil signal.
That verification matters on any circuit where a welded main contact is a hazard: machine guards, elevator doors, and emergency-stop chains. When a specification says “mirror contact”, a standard NC auxiliary block is not a mirror contact, and substituting one removes the safety function.
Ordering Pattern We See From Distributors
The common order is contactor frames plus aux blocks in a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio, sometimes with several frame sizes in one carton. That is normal for us. We produce a carton-level packing list that breaks out quantities by SKU so your receiving team puts the right parts on the right shelf.

Compatibility and IP Position
Eaton and DILM are trademarks of Eaton Corporation plc. Our compatible contactors are independently engineered replacements using our own design and our own tooling, matched to the published frame size, current rating, terminal layout and coil options of the DILM family. We are not an authorised Eaton distributor, we do not apply Eaton branding to our goods, and no Eaton trademark or patent is reproduced on our product. Where a project specification requires an authorised-channel part, that part must come from Eaton.
