Who This Is For
Private label on a remote makes sense for a dealer chain or a hardware retailer that sells the same two or three remote models across every branch, and that wants the reorder to come to them by name. It does not make sense for a single-branch dealer whose customers come back because they know the installer.

What Private Label Actually Changes
| Aspect | Private label | Wholesale compatible |
|---|---|---|
| MOQ | 1,000+ pcs per reference | 100 pcs per SKU |
| Mould cost | Amortised across the programme | None |
| Lead time | 20-25 days including tooling | 7 days from stock tooling |
| Packaging | Your artwork, your barcode, your EAN | Neutral / bulk |
| Break-even | Roughly the second order | Immediately |
| Best when | Multi-branch chain or hardware retail | Single-branch dealer, repair-driven volume |
What It Does Not Change
It does not change the rolling-code implementation, the frequency allocation, or the certification obligation. A private-label garage remote still has to meet the same radio requirements for its market, and the test reports still have to cover the model you actually ship.
Buyers who expect the programme to change those three things misunderstand it. Buyers who understand that it changes only the housing, the artwork and the packaging can plan it properly — and they can tell, at the first reorder, whether it was worth doing.
The Common Mistake
Buyers ask for a garage remote, a gate remote and an RTS curtain handset under one private-label programme, expecting a single mould with a single label. They are three different housings with three different button layouts, and forcing them into one shell produces a part that is correctly branded and ergonomically wrong. The end user notices immediately.
Most successful programmes private-label the two or three references that carry the volume, and buy the rest wholesale.
